National Industries for the Blind Secures its First Commercial 508 Contract with Buildium

National Industries for the Blind (NIB) has secured its first commercial Section 508 Assurance Service contract with Buildium.

Under the contract, NIB will provide accessibility and usability testing of Buildium’s online property and association management applications, to ensure that people with disabilities can successfully use the software. The agreement includes providing recommendations to improve testing for accessibility in future software development.

Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind in Texas, one of 90 nonprofit agencies associated with NIB through the AbilityOne Program, will provide services under the contract through a two-person team, one sighted and one blind.

NIB created Section 508, an amendment to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, to ensure that software, systems, and websites are accessible and usable by users who have disabilities.
