Headquartered in Boston's historic Fort Point Channel area, Buildium LLC was founded in 2003 by a team of seasoned executives with a combined 30 years of experience delivering online solutions to some of the world's largest and most innovative companies for PricewaterhouseCoopers, Accenture and Sapient Corporation. Aside from their professional background, the founding partners shared a common interest in residential and commercial real estate and an even stronger entrepreneurial spirit.

In early 2002, they formed a real estate partnership and bought their first investment property, a multi-family on the East Side of Providence, Rhode Island. A year later in 2003, the partnership had acquired several multi-families with dozens of tenants. Being innovators at heart, they began surveying the marketplace for an online property management system, one that was both simple to use and reasonably priced. Much to their surprise, they didn't find a single online offering, just an endless array of poorly designed desktop products on the low end and outrageously expensive systems costing thousands of dollars per year on the high end.

In response, they set out to design and implement a simple and affordable online solution to help them manage their growing portfolio - one that offered basic income and expense tracking and one that allowed tenants to pay their rent online.

Noting the growing popularity and demand for online software and hearing more and more property managers complain about their existing software, they decided to form Buildium LLC. Their goal was simple - to develop online property management software for professional property management companies, self-managed condo associations and HOAs that was both easy to use and affordably priced.

Today, Buildium offers two distinct editions of its popular online property management software: Property Manager Edition for professional property management companies and Association Edition for self-managed condos and HOAs. With a growing list of happy customers, Buildium's property management software is used to manage thousands of commercial and residential units throughout the US and Canada.
